About Oslo, August 31st 💬
- A city. A man. A day.
At the final stages of his drug rehabilitation in the countryside, 34-year-old Anders (Anders Danielsen Lie) goes into the city for a job interview. He seizes the opportunity to use the day drifting in the city.
- Live today, one minute at a time.
However, it does not take much time for him to understand his old life is already over in many ways. He is still relatively young, but the ghosts of past mistakes haunt him for the remainder of the day. Joachim Trier clearly pushes his main character to the edge, and observes the emotional and physical effects of an existential crisis. However, he also tries to find an answer for how a lost person can move forward in life.
"Oslo, August 31st" is a portrait of contemporary Oslo.
