''R.D. Laing (1927-1969) was a Scottish psychiatrist, whose radical ideas for helping psychotic patients included the therapeutic use of LSD and the creation of Kingsley Hall, a medication-free sanctuary in east London. Laing's Kingsley Hall experiment ran from 1965 until 1970. When it ended, residents were forced to leave. Laing's Kingsley Hall experiment was never repeated but these ideas live on.''
