About the Ivy 💬

The ship IVY is going to Angola which is port of discharge after it embarked. As the journey continues, the ship-owner is bankrupt and disappears.

When the ship arrived in Egypt it becomes apparent that he didn't pay for the harbor, and that there is a charging order on the ship.

The harbor authority moves the ship to a home port where nobody enters. They determine that only a specific amount of crew members can stay, enough members to be able to deal with any sort of possible danger that may occur to the boat.

Only the captain of the ship who is called Beybaba, Kürt from machine department, cabin boy Nadir from kitchen, sailors Alper and Cenk and İsmail who is professional stays on the ship.

All of their reasons for choosing to stay on the boat are different. ''IVY'' is the story of these 6 men and their 120-day trial on the boat without food and water.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

''This story presented me with the opportunity to consider many things in terms of authority and individual relations. I came to realize that certain things that apply to the trapped sailors would also apply to all of us. Our captains are becoming more and more conservative, even fascist, but are they aware that the oceans end. The ocean ended; a ship that does not sail is not a ship. If it isn't the time to ask what the sailors in the story do, will it be the right time tomorrow: 'What should we do with the captain now?' ''
